Description
Follow the sound of the Canary Islands' secret whistles and they will lead you to a wonderful biosphere reserve on the island. Discover Garajonay, a national park that holds a tragic love story wrapped in a dense forest.
Spend a fantastic day in La Gomera and get to know the most interesting parts of this beautiful island. This tour starts at the port of Los Cristianos, where you will take the ferry to San Sebastian de la Gomera, the main port and capital of the island. Once there we will ascend to the Garajonay National Park, a nature reserve and World Heritage Site, where you will be enchanted by the ancient and misty laurel forest with its numerous ferns and moss-covered rocks.
We will stop at the Mirador de la Degollada de Peraza, where you will be able to enjoy panoramic views of the entire island. We continue through Palmita, heading straight into the National Park where we stop at the picturesque villages of Las Rosas and Agulo. There, we will have time for lunch in a typical local restaurant where you can watch a live demonstration of the 'Gomera Whistle', a unique language developed here for communication over long distances on the island separated by deep gorges.
If we have time, we will make a stop at the Juego de Bolas Visitors' Centre after lunch. We will then cross the lush Hermigua Valley, with its hills covered in banana plantations, down to San Sebastian, where you can visit the Torre del Conde and La Casa de Colón, following in the footsteps of Christopher Columbus before he set sail into the unknown on his first voyage of discovery. After exploring the city, return to the ferry for the journey back to Tenerife.
