TOUR DI KAUNAS

Description

The tour of Kaunas begins at the hotel reception with a private guide and after a 1.5-hour drive we reach Lithuania's second largest city, beautifully situated at the confluence of two rivers - the Nemunas and the Neris. Explore the Old Town with its Town Hall, known locally as the White Swan, and Kaunas Cathedral. Make a photo stop at the ruins of Kaunas Castle, built in the 13th century. Also visit St George's Church, which is located near the castle ruins and was built in the 15th century.

Take a walk along Laisves Avenue (Liberty Avenue) - a 1.5 km long pedestrian street - a shopping and entertainment area in Kaunas. On personal request - visit the Ciurlionis Museum of Fine Arts. The museum collections include works by MK Ciurlionis and his heirlooms, Lithuanian folk art, fine and applied art of the 17th-20th centuries, art of ancient Egypt, foreign fine and applied art, numismatics. (NB museums closed on Mondays). ---- Or visit the Pazaislis Monastery, a wonderful 17th-century Lithuanian Baroque gem. Return to the hotel at the end of the excursion.
