Description

For many visitors to a new city, a graveyard is not on the top of your itinerary; however Paris’ Père Lachaise is well worth a visit. Considered one of the most coveted grave real estate in the world, here you can discover over 70,000 graves and tombs and some of the most ornate and flamboyant you have yet to lay eyes on. Père Lachaise is also where Paris’ rich and famous is buried, so this tour will take you to meet some of the most famous, artists, writers, and musicians the world has ever known.

As we meander through this beautiful labyrinth of elaborate stone crypts and overhanging trees as, your friendly and knowledgeable guide will regale you with the history and stories that make this place so special. Oscar Wilde’s tomb stands out among the crowd, a beautifully carved art-deco sculpture covered entirely with bright red lipstick kiss marks from visiting admirers. Discover one of the greatest and most tragic love stories of all time - that of Héloise and Abélard - now buried side-by-side after long years of separation. We also find the final resting place of playwright Molière, Chopin as well as Balzac, Proust, and Delacroix who all wait in the cemetary’s hidden corners. However, the highlight has to be that of Jim Morrison, whose grave, and those surrounding it, are covered with graffiti from the hoards of fans that come to visit his final resting place.
