Description

Visit two of the famous Smithsonian museums on Washington DC's National Mall, the fascinating National Museum of American History and the Museum of Natural History, one of the largest collections in the world, on a three-hour private and informative tour.

You will begin your private tour at the National Museum of American History, where a myriad of American treasures are on display.

From a flag that flew during the Battle of Baltimore to photographs of Titanic survivors aboard the Carpathia, iconic America is at your fingertips, or at least close at hand. Are you interested in a richer and more nuanced history of the country? Your guide can lead you through the museum focusing on segregation, vaccinations and medical advances, or the discoveries made by women in mathematics, science, photography and textiles.

The guide will then take you to the National Museum of Natural History, inaugurated in 1910 and home to one of the largest teams in the world studying the natural and cultural history of our beautiful planet. In addition to its world-class research facilities, the museum hosts a mix of permanent and temporary exhibits that explore the history of the natural world, from dinosaurs to mammals, volcanic rocks to meteors and rare gems.

Your guide will lead you through the sights of the museum, but be sure to let them know if any exhibits are of particular interest, as they will be happy to tailor the visit to your curiosities.

Your visit ends inside the Natural History Museum, where you can continue exploring at your leisure.
