Meet your WD4X4 Jeep driver at your hotel and set off to the incredible Mt.
Etna, one of the highest volcanoes in Europe and the most active in the world.
The giant Etna, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2013, the smoking craters of the volcano and the old and new lava flows are always impressive experience for the visitors.
You will be met on visiting the north side which features a vast pine forest, many cycle paths, a number of great hikes and is not as busy as the south side.
Departure for the Etna area where we will have the opportunity to see different landscapes and pretty villages that are found on the road to reach Piano Provenzana – located at 1800 meters above sea level–.
Here it is possible to take a look at the former Betulle hotel which was partially covered by lava due to the 2002 eruption.
The area is surprising: green from the pine forest, dark from the lava stones and the enchanting colors of nature.
Good smells delight us to enjoy the area in combination with the fantastic landscape.
The day will include the opportunity to see the lava front of the 2002 eruption, the effect of a lava cave and a moderate hike and see some of the side craters characterized by seven small aligned eruptive cones (or “slots”).
Enjoy lunch in a rustic restaurant: a delicious menu including a rich selection of appetizers (cured meats, cheeses, seasonal vegetables), pasta tasting
and sweet.
Lunch will also include local wine and mineral water.
Later in the afternoon we will return to your hotel in the Taormina area.
