Jewish Ghetto Tour

When you think of the history of Rome and its great empire, you can't help but think that this wonderful city is the epitome of history itself. Rome is also great and generous in itself.
Of the ancient houses of the Jewish quarter in Rome where thousands of people were isolated for centuries, today almost nothing remains. However, walking through the alleys of the ghetto, full of monuments, buildings, streets and in the eyes of some of the descendants of those who lived here in the past, you will discover that the legacy lives on in them to this day.
Visit one of Rome's most fascinating neighbourhoods with us and discover the history of one of the oldest Jewish communities in the world. Walk with our guide through the alleys of the Ghetto and discover traces of Imperial Rome such as the Theatre of Marcellus or the Portico of Octavia. We will retrace the history of the Jewish people in the city of Rome, from antiquity to modern times, without ever forgetting the victims of the Holocaust, of whom the 'stumbling stones' (concrete cubes with a brass plate) embedded in the floor are a tangible testimony.
You will also have the opportunity to discover the typical recipes of traditional Jewish-Roman cuisine, such as the delicious artichokes "alla giudia", or the tart with ricotta and sour cherries. During this wonderful walk you will admire the 19th-century synagogue and end your visit with the sound of water from the Renaissance turtle fountain in Piazza Mattei.
