Standing proudly on the banks of the Tiber, Castel Sant'Angelo today houses seven floors of incredible rooms that house artistic masterpieces. The seven floors are connected by a stunning spiral ramp that winds its way through the circular building.

Here you will find a vast collection of historic artworks, including paintings, tapestries, sculptures, bas-reliefs, mosaics and many other opulent pieces.

This large collection was built up over several centuries of Borghese nobility, particularly by Scipione Borghese, an important cardinal during the papacy of Paul V. The Borgheses are one of the best-known ancient families in Italy, famous for their involvement in government, society and the Catholic Church.

The influential family amassed a great fortune, and their collection of antiquities was so large that it was decided to move it all from their other Roman properties to the beautiful Villa Borghese. The splendid Villa is located within the Villa Borghese park, a lush green space where you can spend an afternoon.

In 1901 the museum became the property of the Italian government and is known today as one of the most famous museums in Rome.

The 19th-century auditorium features intricate ceiling panels and the church's original pipe organ.
The string quartet plays famous classical pieces such as Vivaldi's emotional concertos of the Four Seasons.

The concerts are held in the 19th-century Waldensian Evangelical Church, a lovely Renaissance-style building just off Piazza Venezia in central Rome.

The church's intricate interior, with its coffered ceilings, stone columns and stained glass windows, provides an evocative setting and excellent acoustics for evening candlelit concerts.

These electrifying concerts last about 50 minutes and take place every Saturday in May and June. The church’s central location also provides a great opportunity to take an evening stroll to the nearby Roman Forum, Pantheon, and Trevi Fountain after the show.
