Description

Itinerary
Total immersion in the Accademia Gallery and in Michelangelo's art to learn about his most famous work, the "David", and other important works of art such as "The Prisoners" and "San Matteo" and the "Palestrina Pietà" . The young Michelangelo sculpted David from a huge block of rough marble in three years, creating an imposing sculpture of absolute beauty, an icon of the Renaissance model. He depicted a magnificent naked young man at the height of his physical vigor, whose intense expression of strength and courage, arising from an absolute faith in God, became a symbol of the power and invincibility of the Florentine Republic at the moment of its maximum expansion . splendor.

Your walking tour begins with the discovery of the Medici district, where you can admire the monuments that the members of the famous Florentine family themselves admired every day with their own eyes: the extraordinary palace in which they lived, the ancient Church of San Lorenzo and the Medici Chapels, their mausoleum.
A few steps away you will find the wonderful monumental complex of the Duomo: the Baptistery with its golden "Gate of Paradise", the Cathedral with the famous Brunelleschi's Dome and Giotto's elegant bell tower.
The tour then winds through the characteristic streets of the medieval neighborhood where Dante and Beatrice lived and where you can also admire the imposing and unique Church of Orsanmichele, a masterpiece of Florentine Gothic art. You will also discover the picturesque Straw Market: don't forget to rub the nose of the famous “porcellino” (pig).
Continuing you will find yourself in Piazza Signoria, one of the most beautiful squares in the world and the political center of the city. In this "open-air museum", you will be fascinated by the beautiful Fountain of Neptune with the imposing marble statue by Ammannati and by the sculptural masterpieces of the Loggia dei Lanzi, including Cellini's Perseus and Giambologna's Rape of the Sabine Women. . Dominating the square is the majestic Palazzo Vecchio with Arnolfo's crenellated tower, one of the most famous symbols of Florence which you can admire in all its magnificence. Then, following the spectacular elevated route of the Vasari Corridor from the outside you will arrive at the romantic Ponte Vecchio, the oldest bridge in Florence, and you will conclude this fantastic tour admiring its renowned jewelers.

Free time for lunch (or lunch in a typical restaurant depending on the option selected)

In the afternoon, inside the Uffizi Gallery, you can admire numerous works of art by Botticelli, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Giotto, Cimabue, Masaccio and many others. Among the precious exhibition rooms of the Gallery, the most renowned one contains the refined works of Botticelli, including absolute masterpieces: "Primavera" and "Birth of Venus". This last painting, an icon of the museum, represents the allegory of the birth of the goddess emerging from the sea foam and symbolizes the ideal of beauty as an expression of purity and spiritual quality, typical of Renaissance Neoplatonic aesthetics. The guided tour ends at the Uffizi Terrace from where you can enjoy an extraordinary and exclusive view of the most important monuments of the city.

Once the guided tour is finished it is possible to stay in the museum.
