The Piazza del Duomo offers a breathtaking view, especially at sunset, when the sun's rays 'illuminate' the polychrome marble of the buildings that make up the religious complex of the city: the Baptistery, the Duomo and Giotto's Bell Tower. In fact the chromatic homogeneity (green, white and red) harmonizes a stylistic variety wonderfully. The stylistic differences are explained by the construction work in progress for about four centuries, from the mid-eleventh century, when work began on the Baptistery, until the mid-fifteenth century, when the dome of the Cathedral was completed by Filippo Brunelleschi; this, with its imposing dimensions, dominates the whole square. Following a chronological order, the visit to the religious center of Florence should start from the Baptistery. With our Certified Guide you will have the opportunity to admire, inside, the splendid Byzantine mosaics of the vault while, on the outside, the masterpiece of Lorenzo Ghiberti, the east door of the Baptistery, commonly called 'Porta del Paradiso'.

Maria del Fiore.   The final destination of the tour will take us to the "Opera del Duomo" museum where you can admire works of great value from the artistic heritage of the religious complex;   of note, together with others, "La Pietà" by Michelangelo.
